Managing Anxiety and Panic Attacks
It’s normal for us all to experience worry, apprehension, fear, stress, panic, agitation, tension or a sense of foreboding at points in our lives. It’s a natural process as our brain prepares the body for what it thinks it is about to experience, believing it is protecting the body and mind. For most people, this is what happens. But if you suffer from an anxiety disorder, such as Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder, a panic disorder or panic attacks (not everyone who experiences a panic attack will have a panic disorder), it can take over your life and stop you leading the life you want. It can affect your work, relationships, mental and physical health. You may find yourself avoiding certain situations, which feeds the anxiety, and you can become caught up in a vicious circle.
How can hypnotherapy help?
If you are anxious or worrying all the time, or suffering panic attacks, hypnotherapy can be hugely successful in helping to transform your life and letting you live to your full potential. By working closely with me, you can change your perceptions and beliefs about what it is that is worrying you and the situations that are triggering the anxiety and panic attacks.
During a hypnotherapy session, the stress response is relaxed as the mind and body are both relaxed. This alone has both mental and physical benefits. I can work with your subconscious to replace the unmanageable stress or anxiety response with a calmer reaction. Using positive suggestions and other techniques, I can show the unconscious new ways of dealing with events that previously caused anxiety or panic.
Please be reassured that whilst in hypnosis, you are always in control and are never made to do anything that you feel uncomfortable about.
